Cancun Swine Flu

Cancun swine flu as it's called is not a new strain of the infamous swine flu virus we have become accustomed to hearing about. It is usually made in reference to an outbreak of swine flu in the Mexican resort, Cancun.

Cancun is on the Yucatan Peninsular which divides the Caribbean Sea from the Gulf (of Mexico). Often referred to as the Mexican Caribbean it is an extremely popular tourist resort, particularly for North American's.

In "hot" vacation destinations there is a greater risk of contracting disease and viruses simply because of the number of people in the area, notwithstanding, people who are non-native to the area and can have come from anywhere, besides the geography and location of Cancun makes for a difficult area regarding containment.

The Mexican health departments have taken a number of measures (and in all fairness they were pretty quick to respond to the outbreak too) to not only eliminate swine flu from the region but to stop it spreading to other regions. At the time of writing if you are considering traveling to the Cancun region it is advisable to check with your countries government department which deals with traveling abroad.

If you have planned a vacation in Cancun [http://thehomebusinessventure.com/swineflu.html] or anywhere else you needn't allow swine flu to disrupt your plans. Just take sensible precautions such as; sneezing with your mouth covered, washing your hands thoroughly, maintaining a good standard of personal and general hygiene and eating healthy and well cooked food.

Don't be misled by the hype and misreporting, get the facts from reliable sources and enjoy Cancun or wherever else you may go!

Cancun's New Summer Tradition - Baseball With the Quintana Roo Tigers

The sport of baseball has an undeniably storied history in Mexico and throughout the Latin American region. Now, the city of Cancun has its own way to celebrate this exciting tradition. Since 2007, the famous Quintana Roo Tigers - one of the top teams in Mexican League baseball - have called Cancun home. From their stadium in downtown Cancun, the Tigers welcome locals and visitors alike to their regular summer games. Known as one of the best family-friendly entertainment values in Cancun, baseball games with the Quintana Roo Tigers also offer a great way for travelers to experience a unique piece of Mexico's sporting culture.

Founded in 1955, the Tigers baseball team played for 50 years in the Yucatan city of Mérida. The Tigers won the Mexican League championship in their first season and quickly developed a reputation as one of the country's most formidable sports teams. Between 1960 and 2005, the Tigers won eight more Mexican League championships, exhibiting dominance similar to the New York Yankees in the United States. In 2005, the Tigers' 50th anniversary season, the team won its ninth overall championship with a roster featuring only Mexican-born players, a feat that was heralded as a national triumph. Two years later, the Tigers left Mérida for Cancún and began playing in Beto Avila Stadium located in the heart of the downtown district. This year, celebrating their third full season in Cancun as the Quintana Roo Tigers, the team will play more than 50 home games between March 26 and July 30.

In addition to providing a glimpse at one of Mexico's most celebrated baseball teams, Tigers home games also offer one of the best entertainment values in Cancun. Tickets to all games at Beto Avila Stadium range from 20 to 80 pesos (approximately $1.40 to $5.50). While the tickets are certainly a value compared to sporting events in the United States, tourists can also enjoy a vast array of Mexican snacks and drinks, most items priced under 20 pesos. Additionally, the bus service that runs through both the Hotel Zone and downtown Cancun stops just a short walk from the stadium in the heart of a popular shopping area. Those staying in the Hotel Zone can also take taxis to Beto Avila Stadium for a modest rate. The Quintana Roo Tigers play in Cancun throughout the summer at 8 PM during the week and 6 PM on the weekends.

Though the Quintana Roo Tigers have only played in Cancun for a few short seasons, the team and its host city are prepared to welcome this year's Mexican League All-Star Game. Like its American Major League counterpart, the Mexican League All-Star Game features a number of special games, exhibitions and events over the course of a mid-summer weekend. The game will attract plenty of names known to die-hard baseball fans, as well as many players that have spent time in Major League Baseball and played for international teams in the World Baseball Classic. The Mexican League All-Star Game is viewed as an important national event in Mexico, so tourists visiting Cancun during this time will encounter a little extra excitement in the city. The Mexican League All-Star Game will be held at Beto Avila Stadium and surrounding sites from June 5-7.

As one of Cancun's newest summer traditions, games with the Quintana Roo Tigers offer Travellers that one of the best ways to experience the local culture in a family environment. Moreover, as Beto Avila is comfortable stadium in downtown Cancun - an ideal destination for authentic local cuisine and unique independent shops - Travelers can explore the area for days and enjoy one of the world's most popular pastimes in the night.

Cancun Travel

Overview

Cancun is a city seated at the foot of the Yucatan Peninsula, bordered on one side by the Caribbean Sea. Seeing as the city was built primarily as a tourist attraction, it lacks in some of the cultural aspects that can be found in other Mexican cities. However, what Cancun lacks in historical appeal it makes up for in amenities and natural beauty. The main tourist area is located along the coast of the Caribbean Sea, and this is where you'll find all of the city's all-inclusive hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping malls. Don't expect to be surrounded by locals in this part of the city -- your vacation is more likely going to be spent with other tourists. However, a short drive to downtown Cancun may bring you a more traditional Mexican experience. Downtown Cancun is away from the touristy coast and has retained most of its culture and appeal amidst the popularity of the city's Caribbean coastline.

Sightseeing Attractions

While Cancun is the home to a lot of natural beauty, it doesn't have much to offer as far as historical and architectural appeal is concerned. Additionally, most of the sightseeing attractions were created with tourism in mind. However, one glimpse at the white sand coasts that spill into the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and you'll forget that you're surrounded by other tourists. Other notable sightseeing attractions include Xcaret, the Interactive Aquarium, and Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres is only a short ferry ride away from the main tourist hub, and it offers some distance from the manufactured feel of the hotel zone.

Outdoor Attractions

One Cancun company offers visitors the opportunity to rent a Jeep and take it for a drive to see things like Mayan ruins, an interactive zoo, a jungle reserve, and a natural Mexican city. This may be worthwhile if you're craving some stimulation outside of the beachside activities. Other outdoor attractions available at all of the Caribbean coast beaches include snorkeling, fishing, swimming, boating, jet skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, and sunbathing. Vendors scattered along the beaches will provide tourists with the necessary services or tools to aid them in their beach adventures.

Nightlife

There are obviously many shops, restaurants, and clubs located throughout the hotel zone on the Caribbean coast. Expect to find just about every worldly cuisine imaginable as well as high-priced department stores and souvenir shops. Though Cancun's nightlife is manufactured and not a representation of the city's culture, it is enjoyable nonetheless. Many beach bars offer live music and specialize in making margaritas and piña coladas. However, you won't find the locals in any of these areas.

Your Cancun Vacation - 5 Things You Must Make Time For

Your Cancun vacation will be a memorable time for you.
Most likely you will want to do and see many things
during your stay. Let me help you not to forget the most
memorable things about Cancun. Here is my must do list
for your Cancun vacation.

1. At least one morning during your vacation set your alarm
to wake up and watch the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea.
It's beautiful and it's free. (Personally I do this every morning
when in Cancun)

2. Take a leisurely walk on the beach or just sit for an extended
period and enjoy the beach atmosphere. The water and sand are
so amazingly beautiful you have to stop and purpose to enjoy it.

3. Snorkeling. There's a whole new world under the water to see.
Cancun has one of the largest reefs in the world. There are many
tour companies that will take you snorkeling for a reasonable price.
Just make sure you wear sunscreen or your backside will get burned.

4. Play in the waves. I always feel like a kid again when I do this.
Just BE CAREFUL! The surf can be pretty rough. Don't venture out
very far. A water depth of waist deep is more than deep enough
to enjoy the waves. (Only waist deep for very strong swimmers,
otherwise stay shallow) Keep a VERY close eye on children
if they are playing in the water.

5. Take a trip into downtown Cancun. This is the real Cancun.
You is a completely different culture meet
seen in the hotel zone. Just use common sense safety
Precautions. The same can be used in any other big city.

These things I mentioned are the basic tasks, but in my opinion
just as enjoyable as any trip more expensive and recreation.

There are many things to do and see in Cancun, but it does not matter
Whatever you choose, make sure you take time to relax and enjoy
this beautiful beachdestination.
